Wood chips // A useful second life
A truckload of possibility for your landscape.
ChipDrop connects property owners with participating arborists and tree service companies that have wood chips or logs from pruning and removal work. Polgar Tree Surgeons shares this resource for homeowners planning landscape beds, garden paths, and other outdoor projects.
What is ChipDrop?
ChipDrop is an independent online service that helps match people who want arborist wood chips with tree crews looking for a place to unload them. Homeowners, gardeners, landscapers, and property owners can request a delivery through ChipDrop rather than purchasing small bags of mulch.
Requests can include wood chips, logs, or a combination, depending on the preferences available when you sign up. Chips come from tree work and may contain leaves, needles, and small twigs. Expect a varied, natural material rather than uniform decorative mulch.
ChipDrop: how it works for gardeners ↗Put arborist wood chips to work.
Wood chips can cover landscape beds and garden pathways, suppress weeds, help soil retain moisture, and add organic matter as they break down. They can also cover tree and shrub beds and help protect exposed soil from erosion in suitable settings.
Choose the material and placement for the project. Keep mulch away from tree trunks and leave the root flare visible. An arborist can help assess a tree bed before you change the depth or cover exposed roots.
Before you request
Think truckload, not wheelbarrow.
ChipDrop deliveries are large and may arrive without an advance phone call. You cannot order an exact quantity or a partial truckload. Choose an accessible drop location with enough room for the truck and the entire pile, clear of overhead obstacles.
Delivery timing depends on participating crews nearby. Free deliveries are available through the platform; optional payments and current terms are explained by ChipDrop. Read the delivery expectations before requesting a load.
